Getting back REM sleep?

I’m a daily user as it’s offered health benefits that have improved my quality of life greatly. However, I wonder if there’s a way to get back REM sleep, while maintaining daily use. Quitting isn’t worth it for me, the lack of REM is a no brainer trade off for me.

Smoking has actually turned me into a morning person, and has me waking up at about 530-630am naturally everyday, feeling energetic and well rested after 7-9 hours of sleep. I usually smoke within an hour of falling asleep. Should I smoke 2 hours before bed? Will anything other than quitting, offer a solution?
