Kannalife Sciences Goes Public with Share Exchange
Kannalife Sciences announced this past week that it had merged with TYG Solutions Corp through a share exchange transaction, making it a publicly-traded company.
News of this share exchange was picked up by Philadelphia’s The Inquirer – Daily News. According to the article, “The products the company creates, synthetic cannabinoids including the molecule CBD, are used in research at Temple University and other schools for the study of brain injuries, including chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). The company, a spokesman said, does not touch the marijuana plant.”
“While we certainly don’t consider ourselves an ‘anything cannabis’ company, we haven’t lost sight of the fact that Kannalife was among a select few companies in the pharmaceutical space to approach drug development in cannabinoid therapeutics,” said Kannalife CEO Dean Petkanas.
This news was also picked up by the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Kannalife Sciences spokesperson and former NFL star Nick Lowery stopped by the Tiki and Tierney show on CBS Sports Radio to talk football and to promote the research being completed by Kannalife into the potential to create a synthetic cannabinoid treatment option for CTE, opioid addiction, and other conditions.
Lowery also spoke about the still rising concussion epidemic in the NFL. High impact sports like football increase the chance of lasting damage to the brains of players. Kannalife Sciences is working to improve the lives of those with CTE and to prevent its occurrence from increasing.
CBD in the News
CBD continues to make headlines around the world, as more and more people discover its amazing wellness benefits.
An article published on Elite Daily this week explored CBD, helping its readers understand the basics of CBD as a wellness supplement and its role in dealing with modern life’s daily stresses.
The CEO of Medical Marijuana, Inc. Dr. Stuart Titus was interviewed for the piece, sharing his expertise on cannabinoids like CBD and how they function in the body by interacting with our Endocannabinoid Systems. Dr. Titus says, “CBD seems to have a potentially positive impact on one’s ability to cope with stress [and] to stabilize mood.”
Dr. Titus was interviewed as part of an article in Ft. Wayne’s The Journal Gazette. The piece took a close look at the rising popularity of CBD in spas, bars, and restaurants as an exciting new wellness ingredient. It also looked at the start of our complicated relationship with CBD.
“CBD became known as the hippie’s disappointment,” says Dr. Titus of CBD’s lack of psychoactivity. He continued, “Some people do want the high, of course, but others are looking for the health and wellness benefits.”
It is these benefits that have been driving CBD’s booming popularity. The retail value of the 2016 hemp CBD market in the U.S. alone was estimated to be $130 million, according to a market research report by Vote Hemp and the Hemp Business Journal. The CBD market is estimated to grow 700 percent to reach $2.1 billion by 2020, with $450 million of those sales coming from hemp-based sources.
